Well hi there friend! I missed you on our call tonight!

It feels like you’re quitting on me, so I really wanted to talk to you about some ideas I had to help you get through your story and ask some questions. I wonder if you are afraid of telling your entire story. You keep hitting these walls within your text that make you editorially paralyzed. What is that?

Today a thought came to me that might be helpful: is it too late for you to break your story down into a bunch of short stories so that you don’t feel the pressure of writing one cohesive story? For example, you could tell the story – all in one episode (or vignette, as we call them in literature) – about your brother and his difficulties. You could tell the one story about grandma, but do it all in one episode (vignette). You could talk about your discovery of Christ all in one story. It would feel a little like Sandra Cisneros’s book called the house on mango street. Check it out when you get a second and see if you like that vibe. I REALLY want to see you finish Mariaelena.
